This role is responsible for translating creative design into detailed, build-ready drawings that align with real-world production capabilities. Candidates must have prior experience working within a full-service exhibit house and a strong understanding of how design intent carries through to the show floor.
📍 Orlando, FL (Will Relocate)
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Partner closely with 3D Designers to validate that concepts are buildable, practical, and aligned with production capabilities
- Produce comprehensive shop drawings to support custom fabrication, purchasing, and installation/dismantle processes
- Develop detailed drawing packages including dimensions, material callouts, construction methods, and assembly details (including exploded views when needed)
- Define specifications for materials, hardware, lighting, and electrical components in line with project requirements and internal standards
- Prepare technical layouts required by show management and general contractors (electrical plans, rigging/hanging signs, truss, etc.)
- Organize and prepare CAD files for CNC machining and fabrication workflows
- Act as a technical resource for internal teams, ensuring accuracy in information shared with procurement and sales
- Collaborate daily with design, project management, and production teams to keep projects on track and on deadline
- Contribute to problem-solving efforts and support additional tasks as projects evolve
What We’re Looking For:
- 5+ years of experience within the trade show/exhibit industry, specifically in a detailing capacity
- Strong command of AutoCAD; experience preparing files for CNC machining is important
- Deep understanding of fabrication processes and how designs translate into physical builds
- Ability to take limited information and turn it into clear, actionable drawings
- Strong working knowledge of materials including wood, metal, laminates, plastics, fabrics, and more
- Comfortable navigating complex, highly creative designs and finding practical ways to execute them
- Experience with value engineering and identifying cost-effective build solutions without compromising design intent
- Strong communication skills and ability to confidently present ideas or solutions internally
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability
- Self-starter who can research materials, methods, and solutions as needed
This is a highly visible role where your work directly impacts the success of each build. If you enjoy solving complex challenges and bringing ambitious exhibit designs to life, this is a strong opportunity to make an impact.
