Estimator – Exhibits/Millwork
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support sales and production efforts for a leading exhibit, events, and experiential design-build organization. This role plays a key part in driving project success by delivering accurate, detailed estimates for custom millwork, trade show exhibits, and specialty fabrication. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of fabrication processes, the ability to interpret technical drawings, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop accurate cost estimates for trade show exhibits, millwork projects, and custom fabrication
- Perform detailed takeoffs from drawings, renderings, and specifications
- Source and evaluate vendor pricing for materials, finishes, and hardware
- Maintain organized estimating records, including digital documentation and project files
- Estimate shop labor hours for fabrication and installation (non-GC scope)
- Prepare clear scopes of work and partner with Account Managers on proposal development
- Revise estimates as project scope evolves
- Collaborate with project managers, account teams, and production throughout the lifecycle
- Provide value engineering recommendations to align cost with design intent
- Manage estimating timelines to ensure deadlines are consistently met
- Independently produce high-value bids (>$100K) with precision and accountability
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of estimating experience within millwork, cabinetry, or trade show exhibit fabrication (General Contracting experience not applicable)
- Strong knowledge of fabrication methods, materials, and finishes including wood, laminates, metals, and solid surfaces
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, architectural plans, and 3D renderings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with tools such as Bluebeam, AutoCAD, FileMaker Pro, or QuickBooks is a plus
- Strong mathematical, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
